Dynaform & VPG Education
Dynaform Advanced -
Theory and Materials Class
Duration
2-days
Course Overview
Die simulation & one-step forming analysis systems are only as accurate as their input. This
class empowers analysis system users to take control of the creation and managment of their own material
specifications library with the goal of ensuring their analysis results correctly predict actual process
outcomes. The subject matter includes:
- An introduction to basic material properties, Poisson’s Law and stress/strain curves, and
the basic theory of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) systems.
- Understanding material specifications (n, R, and K values) and how to derive them from laboratory tensile test data,
- Hands-on case studies (one is a prog-die cup-draw sequence) to understand how the accuracy of material
specifications can and does affect analysis results as well as actual part quality.
- Discussion on how to develop an in-house system involving engineering, purchasing, and quality to close
the loop - to insure material suppliers deliver the same material as specified in the initial process analysis.
This class is intended for analysis software users AS WELL AS engineering, purchasing, and quality management
who want to understand the needs and requirements of a company-wide materials specifications management and testing system.
This is a hands-on class.
Prerequisites
FEA die simulation system users should have prior experience in the use a one-step forming analysis or incremental
analysis system. Engineering, purchasing, and quality management personnel are recommended to attend in conjunction
with their analysis engineers.
Cost
$1,0495.
