VISI-Series Brochures

Overview of VISI-Series for Mold Design, Machining, and Mold Fill Analysis.

Overview of VISI-Series for Tool & Die Design, Machining, and Forming Analysis.

 World Products Engine Blocks
are designed in VISI-Modeling because they have to be right -
the first time - every time.

VISI-Modeling is a complete general purpose CAD System. It includes solid and surface modeling, 2D associative plot view generation, GDT (geometric dimensioning & tolerancing), and automatic Bill-of-Material generation & maintenance.
VISI-Modeling is the core for all tool design and machining configurations and is comparable or better in toolmaker functionality than any and all other CAD systems including CATIA, Unigraphics, Pro/Engineer, Solidworks, Solid EDGE, Inventor, and Mechanical Desktop.

VISI-Analysis upgrades the basic modeling configuration to include a set of analysis tools for the validation and preparation of toolmaker model geometry. Specific functions include parting line development, undercut identification, and draft analysis.
VISI-Progress upgrades the basic modeling configuration to include functions for the design of progressive, transfer, and line dies. Specific functions include step-by-step part unfolding, flange unfolding, strip design, die set development, punch & die hollow development, and catalogues and libraries for standard components such as fasteners, pins, bushings, punches & buttons, springs and cylinders.
VISI-Blank is for sheet metal geometry analysis. Use it to unfold 3D drawn sheetmetal parts to flat blanks to a stock thickness accuracy. It also produces colored plots showing part thinning for identifying forming "hot spots." VISI-Blank is used extensively in the sales and estimating departments of sheet metal stampers.

This 6-Cavity Unscrewing
Plastic Injection Mold
was designed in VISI-Mold.

VISI-Mold upgrades the basic modeling configuration to include functions for the design of all types of molds including investment casting, plastic injection, thermoset, compression, and foundry. Geometry development functions are included for plate sets, inserts, locks, slides, water lines, and catalogues and libraries for standard components such as fasteners, pins, bushings, sprews, lifters, and the like.
VISI-Flow is for mold fill analysis. Compared with other mold flow products in the market, VISI-Flow calculates faster, is more accurate, and costs less. The system's speed and accuracy are due to its use of higher-order mesh elements - hexahedrons rather than tetrahedrons. Many configurations are available for differing customer requirements analysis - Fill & Hold, Shrink & Warp, and Cooling. What's more, because VISI-Flow can be integrated with VISI-Mold and VISI-Modeling, use it in a closed loop environment to quickly analyze design changes to a mold fill process.
VISI-Electrode automates the process of creating and managing the development and manufacture of electrodes and their holders. Comprehensive holder design, simulation, and collision checking functions ensure that electrodes will operate right - first time.
VISI-Machining 2D provides a practical, intuitive and simple solution for 2.5-axis CNC programming. The system also includes support for 4- and 5-axis indexing. Automatic knowledge-based feature recognition selects geometry features on solid models and creates reliable milling and drill cycle toolpaths.
VISI-Machining-3D creates high speed machining toolpaths for the high quality machining of mold cores and cavities and high efficiency machining of production parts. Because VISI-Machining does these jobs so well, its "machining engine" has found its way into 5 of the top 10 machining systems in the world wide market.
VISI-Machining 5-Axis brings a new level of price performance and productivity to core and cavity work. With its new lower price and dramatic reduction of job setup time, VISI-Machining 5-axis is bringing dramatic cost reductions to the tool making industry.
VISI-Reverse is all about reverse engineering. Use it to input point-cloud data from laser and other scanners and process it into surface meshes and then editable CAD surfaces. When you need to machine a replacement form section for a prog die, use VISI-Reverse to process your scanned data from the old part into a new machinable surface for the replacement part. The system includes editing tools for statistically cleaning extraneous data within a point cloud for the creation of a meaningful new surface. VISI-Reverse has now been deployed in the auto, aerospace, shoe, and medical industries - to name just a few.
This is a case study of a VISI-Series user, BK Tooling, in the UK. Having used the VISI-Series for the past 10 years, they recently added the new VISI-Flow module. This is a story of how they use VISI-Flow as an integral part of their mold design and build operation.
