Forming Suite Overview
One-Step Analysis
"One-step forming analysis" is the name given to the technology of solving forming problems within a single time step (ergo a single form station). The results to be had are many:
- Blanks shapes can be developed from drawn sheetmetal parts - for trim line layouts & material estimates,
- Part thinning (or thickening) can be determined - to identify hot spots,
- Actual fractures and wrinkles can be predicted,
- "True" material requirement can be determined based on part nesting on a coil,
- Springback can be determined so corrections can be designed into a die process,
- Material usage in prog die strips can be determined,
- Prog die web attachment can be analyzed for edge to carier movement, and
- Material savings can be determined based on part edge movements.
MultiStage Analysis
With the announcement of Forming Suite's MultiStage capability, forming analysis of one 3D part shape into a second are now possible because the need for the initial form to be a flat blank has been eliminated. The benefits are many:
- Many alternative forming processes can be considered because one-step analyses run fast - typically taking no more than 3 minutes per station.
- Any process can have any number of form stations.
- Setup is extremely fast. The same proven easy-to-use interface used by Fastblank and Fastform has been expanded to include MultiStage functions.
Fast-Incremental Analysis
Once a viable sequential forming process has been identified using MultiStage, Forming Suite's Fast-Incremental module can be deployed to confirm a MultiStage design process with the accuracy of explicit incremental analysis.
- The Forming Suite Fast-Incremental solver is based on the highly acclaimed and accurate LS/Dyna incremental solver.
- Setup is extremely fast. The same proven easy-to-use interface used by Fastblank, Fastform and MultiStage has been expanded to include Fast-Incremental functions.
