(with MFR)

The MFR feature first "finds" the holes, then
programs them to mfg standards - automatically.

Users can specify if they want to
mill pockets or drill holes first.

VISI-Machining 2D generates NC programs for profiles, pockets, slots, drills, and ruled surfaces. Gouge checking is performed on the tool, the tool holder, and clamping.

The MFR Feature - Manufacturing Feature Recognition

The MFR feature automatically generates NC programs for mold plates and die shoes by reading the manufacturing features in the user's tool design that are generated automatically by VISI-Mold or VISI-Progress modules.

Working within VISI-Machining 2D, MFR "reads" the features in the design and generates the toolpath based on user manufacturing standards that are loaded at time of system installation. For example, when the system "sees" a 3/4" threaded hole, it might generate cycles for a spot drill, a tap drill, a tap cycle, and a chamfer. And users can specify if they want to mill pockets or drill holes first.

There are three major benefits with the MFR program:

Time savings - NC programs can be released to production immediately,

Labor savings - if the system generates the program, you save the labor,

No re-work - because the computer generates the NC program, it's done with computer accuracy - no errors.
