Compass is bringing the sheetmetal forming and welding education program from Forming Technologies to Cleveland. The first classes to be offered will be Basic Metal Forming and Advanced Metal Forming Analysis. FTI instructors will teach the classes at the Compass Education Center in North Olmsted.

Basic Formability -
(3-day class) - $1,150

Course Overview

Learn how to understand stamping failures through analysis of metallurgical properties and the behavior of steel during forming processes. Review details of the latest material grades (including advanced high strength and dual phase materials) as well as countermeasures for addressing stamping defects. A methodology for successful failure analysis using metallurgical, die and part, and press perspectives will also be presented.

Advanced Formability -
(2-day class) - $$998

Course Overview

Learn how to apply manufacturing processes to the analysis, design and optimization of stamped parts to ensure feasibility without wrinkles or splits. Interpret a panel and measure formability of stampings. Understand material properties, circle grid, thinning analysis, stamping dies, and types of defects.

Prerequisite

The Basic Formability Class or a working knowledge of its subject matter.
