Mold Applications - Designing & Manufacturing Molds

Part Modeling – VISI-Modeling

VISI-Modeling is true 3D free-form solid and surface modeling with the ability to model parts from scratch and to "repair" parts created in other cad systems such as CATIA, Unigraphics, and Pro/Engineer when needed to make them manufacturable. It's easy to modify radii and fillets and to add draft after the fact - from above, from below, from the radius, or from the surface intersection.

Mold Design – VISI-Mold

VISI-Mold is CAD design system specifically for designers of injection, compression, and blow molds.  Using built-in wizards, parametrics and knowledge-based functions, VISI-Mold helps mold makers cut their delivery time in half, and cut engineering time and costs by one third.  Specific functions include draft analysis, shadow-line development, core/cavity split, slide generator, waterline layout, electrode development, and catalogue part generation.

Reverse Engineering - VISI-Reverse

Reverse engineering is all about recreating CAD and CAM data for pre-existing parts or tooling when original CAD/CAM data no longer exists. In the case of part, 3D scanner data (point cloud data or STL files) can be read and processed into CAD surfaces. Once done, the surfaces can be cleaned up and modified using standard CAD functionality and then used to create core and cavity geometry for tooling.

VISI-Analysis

VISI-Analysis makes quick work of part analysis for molding. Simply specify the "pull" direction and the system will color the part as shown to describe the differing degrees of draft - 0°, 1°, or more. And parting lines for core, cavity, and slides are easily developed - even when underlying geometry doesn't exist.

VISI-Flow

VISI-Flow analyzes the “fill” process of plastic injection molds to insure part quality and increase productivity. Mold designers can quickly analyze mold designs with no prior knowledge of FEA technology. And with VISI-Flow’s full suite of modules (including cavity fill, part shape, and cooling analysis) the complete full function analysis job can be done. (This is not an adviser type system.)

VISI-Electrode

For some mold manufacturers they spend more time and money manufacturing electrodes than they do the mold itself. For them, the VISI-Electrode module makes quick work of their design and manufacture.

Plate Machining –
VISI-Machining 2D with MFR

For machining die sets, nothing is faster than VISI-Machining with MFR (Manufacturing Feature Recognition).  It "reads" plate features (such as a 3/8" threaded hole) and generates its entire machining sequence (spot drill – tap drill – tap cycle – chamfer).  What it means is this – work is released to the shop immediately, NC programming labor is reduced to almost nothing, and rework is virtually eliminated by computer accuracy.

Core and Cavity Machining –
VISI-Machining 3D

For machining cores and cavities, VISI-Machining 3D develops toolpaths directly on the design models from VISI-Mold without any translations.  Using advanced machining technologies like normal step-over, rest machining, ISO machining, and rest milling, VISI-Machining 3D is easier to learn – faster to program – runs faster on the CNC – and generates higher quality finishes.

Plate Machining – VisualMill Basic

There is no greater value for 2½D machining than VisualMill Basic.  Containing not only all standard 2D machining algorithms, it also includes basic 3D algorithms as well as re-machining and thread milling.  But what's really amazing is the price – $995.  Check this system out first to be sure you don't spend more than you need – you'll be surprised.

Form Station Machining –
VisualMill Advanced

They're called new paradigm systems.  You saw what SolidWorks, Solid EDGE, Mechanical Desktop, and Inventor did to the 3D CAD market – that's what VisualMill has done to CAM.  It's all there – Z-roughing, plunge-roughing, constant-Z, parallel plane, pencil machining, radial and spiral cuts, and machining between edge curves – and it's all for $3,995 – there is no better value.

Shop Floor Machining -
machining STRATEGIST

For core and cavity machining, nothing is more powerful than machining STRATEGIST as a shop floor solution when used behind customer supplied CAD systems such as CATIA, Unigraphics, Pro/Engineer, SolidWorks, Solid EDGE, and more.

CNC Utilities - editNC

This valuable tool for CNC operators lets them read and edit G-code files, perform all manner of toolpath manipulations (such as renumbering, translation, rotation, and reformating), backplot toolpaths into wireframe graphics, and provide trickle-feeding of CNC controllers for as many serial ports as on the PC.
